The Swatch Group has 160 production centers situated mainly in Switzerland, but also in France, Germany, Italy, USA, Virgin Islands, Thailand, Malaysia and China - over 440 reporting units.The Swatch Group is synonym for emotional and luxury products of high quality. With its own worldwide network of distribution organizations, the Group is active in the manufacture of finished watches, movements and components (ETA, Nouvelle Lemania, Frédéric Piguet, etc.). The Swatch Group is also active in the field of telecommunications
and the automobile sector as well as in the service sector. This includes sports
timing which measures the time at multiple international sports events and most
of the Olympic Games. The Swatch Group is also official timekeeper and data
handling operator for the Olympic Games in Athens, Torino (Turin, Italy),
Beijing, China and other cities. The group was founded in 1983 through the merging of the two Swiss watch manufacturers ASUAG and SSIH. Swatch Group: Omega, Official Timekeeper of the Olympic GamesBiel-Bienne, September 21, 2004 – Swatch has now successfully participated at three Olympic Games as the Official Timekeeper (1996 in Atlanta, 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens, where the company was also responsible for on-venue results systems and integration services), and Swatch Group Ltd. has now decided that its most traditional timekeeping brand worldwide, Omega Ltd., will assume this responsibility. Omega Ltd. will be responsible for the timing and scoring systems and services as well as the on-venue results management at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. special “countdown” clock in the famous Tiananmen Square in Beijing. The clock
will count down the time remaining until August 8, 2008 – when the Games of the
